five months!

it seems like these monthly posts are all i'm getting to these days.

jillian is five months old.

apparently she thinks she is like eight months old, and we need to put a stop to that. real quick.

taking those chair pictures is a two man job now. she'll crawl right off the chair! so kyle is the "catcher" just in case she takes a dive!

she wants to crawl sooo badly! she can scoot (or army crawl) wherever she wants. she hasn't discovered there's life outside of the livingroom yet, so we are grateful for that. but i'm afraid it won't be long. she has crawled a couple times. for the most part, she gets up on all fours, and wiggles for awhile, then just drops back to her tummy and scoots.


we are really trying to practice sitting up, because i'm afraid if she can crawl before she can sit up, then she'll never take the time to sit still long enough to sit up!


kyle assures me that we will make sure she can sit in a chair before she goes to kindergarten. he said "kaci, it's not like we're going to carry her into the classroom, put her in a chair and she just slides out! she will learn to sit up!"

still, we're practicing. and she's getting pretty good. with the tiniest bit of support she does great. with no support, she does pretty good, but falls over after a little bit.

this girl is soo happy! i just can't get enough of her!


this girl looooves the bath! i think i say that each month, but it seems she likes it more each day. now when we go into the bathroom, she knows it's coming and gets all excited. i can't keep her on her back in the tub any more. i put her in and she flips right over.

it looks like she's swimming laps! she goes from end to end chasing toys!

being on her tummy in water seems dangerous, but i'm always within arms reach. and holding her down on her back in water seems a little more dangerous, so there.

in the last couple days she has started putting her face under water. which sounds good, but she doesn't pull it back out!! so now i'm on super alert! the good thing is, she isn't scared of water one bit!

we had our first sick spell this past week. that's one reason this post is a little late. jillie was not happy long enough to take her "monthly pictures". (kyle kinda made fun of me, but he really loves the monthly pics).

we knew she wasn't feeling well when she fell asleep on kyle like this!

she just had a little runny nose, and cough. no fever. it really wasn't that bad, until she would try to go to sleep, then she couldn't breathe and would get fussy, cry, snotty nose got worse..you know the drill. so she was just a fussy girl for a few days there.

last week was her first trip out of the state! we went to kansas! woo hoo! we went to see dan, ashleigh, and izzie. the trip was low key. we just hung out, did a little shopping, a little crafting, and the babies did a lot of playing!



izzie wasn't too sure what to think of jillie. when they left texas, jillie would just lay there and let izzie mess with her. now jillie is coming back with a vengeance. she is on the move, and a toy stealer!

izzie warmed a quickly and they had a ball! she did still think jillie was her baby though! in the car, she would hold her hand, and help feed her. too cute!


funny story about this picture. we lost jillie's blanket at our hotel. as we were driving out of the parking lot the next morning, it was hanging on a street sign! thankfully someone was nice enough to hang it up there, because we kinda just thought it was lost in the car. i'd be a sad momma if we got back to texas without it!

more big news..jillian is now a big cousin!!!!

danny and chelle had their baby last night!

haylie rae jones! 5 lbs 11 oz! 18.5 inches long!

so that was a long post! i guess we've had a busy couple of weeks around here!

galveston

** this post is really out of sequence with life, but i still needed to post it. it's been in my "saved posts" for so long, because i've been needing to put captions under all the pictures, but i'm just going to post with no captions. gasp! i know! and some of the pictures may be out of order. gasp again!

the second week of july, we took a little to galveston. we originally had plans/reservations in destin, but with all the oil spill mess, we didn't want to risk it. we had 30 days in advance to cancel with a refund, so we went ahead and did that.

galveston was about the only close beach with any open rooms, so we headed that way. the 6 hour drive was definitely a plus, over the 12 hour drive to destin.

except for the 2 days of flooding we had a really good time. it was a very chill trip.

jillian was soo good. much better than we ever thought she would be on her first vacation! she slept great in her little travel bed.

we spent the days at the beach or pool, then would go eat at fun restaurants at night.

one day the guys went fishing and the girls went shopping. it POURED rain that day. and the guys caught one fish. they should've gone shopping with the girls!

we also went to moody gardens one day. jillie went to her first IMAX movie. she and i stood at the back (actually it was the front, but out of the way). we also went to the aquariam and rainforest there. jillie slept through a lot of it, but when she was awake she loved all the things to look at!

4 months!

well, it happened. 4 months came. and i'm sure 5 will be here before we know it!



jillie turned 4 months on the 5th and had her routine 4 month check up.
her stats:
12 lbs 13 oz (doubled birth weight -- yay!) -- 30th percentile
25 in long -- 75th percentile
looking like we have a long skinny girl! (i wonder who she's taking after?)


she is changing soo much each day. it's so fun to watch her learn new things. she has also turned into ms.personality!


some of her favorite things right now --

her exersaucer -- she will sit in for as long as we let her! my mom had one and she always sat in it at their house, so i decided we should get one. they are crazy expensive, so i went to the trusty craigslist and found one for $25.

it was a hit! literally! in the first 5 minutes, she jacked her face on it, she forgave it though and is playing again. that smile doesn't lie!


she loves to watch baby einstein! if i need a few minutes (or even an hour) to get things done around the house, that will keep her occupied!

the girl talks. and talks. and talks! it is so sweet! i can't imagine when she's actually saying words!

she sings when she hears music! i use the word "sing" lightly. it's so funny, right when you turn the music off, she's silent! this makes car rides entertaining!

she loves her daddy! she's of course always loved him, but you can really see it coming out now! the other day he came home for lunch and when he left she started crying. it was the first time she really showed that she knew one of us had just left!



we started cereal yesterday! and the girl loves to eat! she would eat a spoonful then start crying before i could even get another bite for her!



we're hoping this will help her start sleeping better again. she has slept through the night for 1 1/2 months, but all of a sudden in the last week or so, she's waking up several times a night. we don't know if she's not staying full on just milk, or what. so hopefully the cereal will be the answer!

we fed her in the bumbo, because she's not quite ready for the highchair. but she doesn't love the bumbo. she can almost wiggle out of it! i have not heard of a child being able to get out of one, but she is close! then she gets frustrated, becasue she's hanging halfway out.



she is trying so hard to sit up on her own. she can sit great in your lap without any support, but on the floor she takes a nose dive after just a few seconds. i don't think it will be long though!

we have always tapped on her paci when she was fussing and it would calm her down, well she has started doing it to herself! it is the funniest thing. the motor skills aren't just great at this point, but once the hand finds the paci, she'll keep hitting it.

she finally found her feet, and holds onto them constantly!



i didn't think she could, but the girl has gotten sweeter and we love her even more!

i'm trying not to be sad that she is growing up so fast, and just embrace each step of the way and love that day!

i said i'm trying!

4th of july

hey, at least we're still in the same month!

i love love love the 4th of july.

you get to wear red, white, and blue and it's not uncool.

jillie had the cutest 4th of july outfit. kyle decided it wasn't for everyday wear though.

we had a great 4th! we went to the 2nd annual party at heidi and brent's, and watched the park street parade.

later the night we were going to go to the park to watch the city fireworks show, well it started pouring and got delayed a couple of hours. by the time is started, jillie was soo done partying, so we watched them from our front yard about a mile away.

the police car sirens started going off, and jillie's little eyes started to well up with tears! we kinda thought it was funny. in a totally pathetic, sad way.

three months

now i know jillian is almost 4 months, but we couldn't skip month #3 altogether!

this girl is too funny! she loves to laugh, but looks a little funny doing it! she has the most expressive little face. she smiles all the way up to her eyebrows!

she's made major strides this month!
-she sleeps on her tummy full time. about 9pm-6am. we're very happy with her sleep!
-went on her first vacation and did amazing!
-she has started reaching for toys and really interacting.
-she has started belly laughing and it is soo cute! you really have to work for it though!
- she weighs 11 lbs 11 oz (on july 3rd)


-she is still breastfeeding 99.9% of the time.
-she had to get formula for the first time (which made me sad), but has only had 2 formula bottles.
-i went back to work for the first time, which was an adjustment. i was sad to leave her, but it was a little nice to get to do something different!
-although, jillie gave kyle a run for his money that night!
-i am so blessed, i am only working 1 night a week for now.
-we found out she is a bit strong willed. she goes on "nursing strikes" where she refuses to nurse! the first time she did this was when i got home from work. i believe she was holding a grudge!

i'm not sure what happened to the blog, but it started acting weird, and elements started disappearing, so we're kind of under construction for the time being!

oh my goodness, life has been more than crazy! we have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off. but it looks like it may be starting to calm down a little.

none of which i will be blogging about today.

my grandmother passed away monday night. she has been in the hospital for almost 3 weeks with liver failure. (we didn't even know she had liver issues!).

2 sundays ago, they told us she wouldn't make it through the day, well over a week later, she finally decided to go home. tough, tough lady!

the family has been up at the hospital all this time, we would go daily, but some of our family never left!

all that to say we're a little tired!

we were all very sad to say goodbye, but after the last few days, there was a bittersweet peace when she finally stopped fighting.
