kyle's new found talent...

normally following "kyle's new found talent.." there would be some joke, or new bodily function he's discovered, but not this time. this time it's for real!

we were riding in the car one day, and kyle says "i would love to build a guitar. my dream job would be to build guitars and sell them."

so i reply, "well, why don't you just build a guitar then?"

he says, "you know, i think i will."

so the journey begins.

this just so happened to be about the same time i started working nights. so it was very convenient that kyle all of a sudden had a project to work on with his dad every night i worked.

here's the very beginning stages. pieces of black walnut and oak in the middle to start the body of the guitar.

much further down the road, we have the final shape. it just needs finishing and wiring. (and a few other details.)

the finished product...

drum roll please..

ta da!! i love it! isn't it pretty!? all hand made!

i believed in you all along, dear! but i'm not going to lie, it's much better than i even thought it would be!

so the obsession has begun, he's already on his second one!! who knows, maybe this will turn into a guitar selling blog!! haha..right..

Road Trip!

Heidi, Andrew, Dellie, and me all went on a road trip to see the newest member of our family, Isabella Kelso!
We had a lot of fun, but 9 hour drives with 2 kids 5 years and under is not something you want to do on a regular basis!
when we got there, we loved on the new baby! she is so sweet and content! just barely whines if she is upset! (hopefully it will continue like this!)
we had to have lots of activities to keep andrew and dellie entertained, so we went to the park one day, to the zoo another, on our last day there we went and looked at all the tanks on base, which andrew had been begging to do since we left the house thursday morning!

here are quite a few pictures to sum up the trip..

here they are looking all sweet and innocent in the back of a car. this is how they spent 1 of the 9 hours each way.
they dvd player is a gift from God! that is how they spent the other 8 hours of each trip!

heidi and i getting a little tired of the drive!

...in Kansas at last!

First meeting Izzie!!

the kids loved her!! especially andrew..he just wanted to keep holding her the whole time we were there! here they are reading her "pat the bunny" (my favorite children's book ever!)

andrew taking a break from loving on izzie, had to be an army man.

mom and izzie after izzie's first bath at home!

then off to the zoo..
ashleigh actually wanted to go just a few days after she delivered! the weather was beautiful (for kansas). both her and baby did great! here they are with the flamingos!

the sun was bother izzie's eyes =)

dellie pushing care bear (who was usually flipped out of the stroller and dragging the ground!) and andrew pushing izzie with much more caution than dellie.

brother and sister =)

mom is now the ammaw of three =)

the girls had matching tutus, so we of course had to take lots of picturesgirly cousins =)

dellie putting on a little show for the baby

how sweet is that face!?

dellie being calm for a split second!

to hannah:

dear hannah.
here is the picture of our new car you have been requesting!
this is what i got for my birthday! love love love it!!

playing catchup..

I have not posted in quite awhile! so here's to playing catch up on the last month of our lives. it's not really exciting stuff, but the little fun things that make us love life =)

andrew and adelle spent the night one night and we made a tent in the living room.

adelle's favorite thing to do at our house is "race lola". she'll walk inside our house and the first thing she says is, "can i go outside and race lola?" she then goes into the backyard and her and lola will just run laps. its kinda funny.

kyle has also been working on a guitar. like building it from scratch! one day, he said, "i've always wanted to build a guitar". so i said, "why don't you?" him and his dad have been working on it together. it's very close to being done! it's turning out really good! i'll post all the pictures when it's done. here's the starting piece of wood..

i turned 22!

we wanted to go to the dallas aquarium, but we've had some hectic work schedules and haven't been able to make it, so we went to the next best thing! bass pro shops!! haha. we went out to eat, bass pro shops, and target! our favorite rockwall stops.
here we are at bps! it looks kind of aquariumish.

for my birthday we also went to andrew's first tball game. he's definitely a natural.
this is after the game. adelle is saying.."so andrew. do you think you're going to share those snacks with me?" too funny.

we also helped danny and chelle move into their new house! so exciting! the only picture i took was of andrew and dad working on the fence.

this past sunday we had a birthday lunch/early easter lunch. here's us at the sunday afternoon festivities.

here are the kids with all their goodies

so that's all i have for now! hope the pictures weren't too boring for you! =) i'll try to be better at keeping up with the blog so its not such a onslaught of pictures!
have a lovely wednesday!

new car!

we bought a new car tonight! i'm so excited!

kyle got home from work, and we were going to go to rockwall to eat because we hadn't been on a date in a while. kyle's been emailing back and forth with a salesman from rockwall ford, so we decided to just stop and look at the car he was trying to sell us.

well it had sold on saturday =( we were actually going to go look at it saturday, after the quinlan flea market but we got a flat tire (refer back to previous post). so we were kinda sad the one we really wanted had sold but..

we got a newer, much nicer car for a better deal!! so i am a happy camper.

we got there at 6pm and did not drive away till 10:30pm!! remember we were going on a dinner date? well, that got postponed and we ended up eating dinner at steak and shake around 11!

so i would post a picture of our really cute ford escape, but i'm very tired. maybe one tomorrow.

and if anyone is interested in a 2000 pontiac grand am, just let us know! =)

**tire update**
my dad talked to the dude that closed his tire business. and he is actually going to have to pay someone to haul off all the tires. so we did him a great favor. just in case you were wondering =)

spell check anyone?

only at the quinlan flea market, do you find a sign that spells miscellaneous quite like this!
yes, we went to the quinlan flea market today.
it was not quite as "quinlanitey" as i thought it might be! no offense to quinlan peeps. i have several friends from quinlan. but you know who you special ones are!

we actually had a lot of fun. i bought a $2 picture holder thing, and that was our big purchase of the day.

it was a great day, till on the way home we had a flat tire. we pulled over in a closed down tire shop.

ironic?

we got all the tire changing stuff out of the trunk, and didn't have the lug nut wrench. bummer.

don't worry, our dads saved the day.

the tire that was on our car was ruined, and there was a big pile of old tires that the guy who closed his business left there.

well, if you know my father, you know what happens next. he goes over to the pile and the first tire he looked at matched our tires exactly. he knew it was a sign from God!

so we took the tires to wal-mart to get it put on our car and got a brand newish tire for just a $12 fix!!

(don't worry, we're not thieves. dad knows the guy who owned the shop, so he's going to call him and see if he wants anything for the tire. conscience: cleared)

but back to the quinlan flea market...i recommend it for an entertaining saturday afternoon outing!
